Nerding out on playlists

One of my favorite memories from PCMF Summer 2021 was driving to a wonderful hiking spot along the Sacramento River, listening to Fauré’s Pavane, Stravinsky’s Pastorale, Bach’s Goldberg Variations (with Glenn Gould at the keyboard, of course!), Piazzolla’s Oblivion … and everyone in my car recognized the pieces, had strong opinions about who is their favorite recording artist on this piece and that … it was magical! And I asked the students if they have friends with whom they can do this, and everyone said NO, that this is why coming to an intense summer classical music festival is so … wonderful! Wonderful!
